Location

The reserve is open all year round to visitors. Access to the reserve is available down the footpath, which leads from Otley Road opposite St James Church, or along the riverside footpath from Shipley and Esholt.

The reserve is situated in the Aire Valley along side the river Aire below Baildon village, North Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Getting here

By car

Car parking is available in the lay-by on Otley Road below St. James Church. The public footpath to the reserve and river is across the road.

By public transport

The regular bus service along Otley Road from Shipley is 737. Baildon and Shipley train stations are within reasonable walking distance.

On foot

Access from the Leeds/Liverpool canal and Buck Woods by crossing the river via the Buck Lane bridge.

Accessibility

Appropriate gates are provided to allow wheelchair access into the reserve. Some of the main paths are crushed gravel and allow access to parts of the reserve. We have an accessible toilet and ramp which can be requested from the warden. Please contact the warden for more details.

The Surrounding Area

There is much more to see in the surrounding area including Esholt village of Emmerdale fame. The historic Saltaire Village which has world heritage status. Beyond Roberts Park in Saltaire there is the Glen Tramway, Shipley Glen and Brackenhall Countryside Centre. The Leeds/Liverpool canal is within a short walking distance of the reserve and there are other green spaces in close proximity, including Buck Woods and Tong Park.
